Indiana Bee School XX

2022 Bee School will be held on February 26th, 2022 at Horizon Convention Center in Muncie, Indiana.  Cost is $50 for members and $60 for non-members. All registrations include lunch.

Guest Speakers

One of our guest speakers will be Dr. Geoff Williams from Auburn University. Dr. Geoffery Williams is an Assistant Professor & Graduate Program Officer at Auburn University.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Alberta.  Goeff’ speciality is Entomology & Plant Pathology.

He went on to study for his Masters at Acadia University, in Nova Scotia.  His study included working in Yuma, Arizona with Africanized honeybees.  Hot, dry and working with highly aggressive bees, he and his other cold weather friends created a schedule to help address all those challenges.

Dr. Williams earned his PhD from Dalhousie University, in Nova Scotia.  For the next five years, he specialized in research in Bern, Switzerland gaining invaluable knowledge and working with graduate students.  Geoff is currently the Vice-President of COLOSS.  COLOSS (Prevention of honey bee COlony LOSSes) is an international, non-profit association headquartered in Bern, Switzerland that is focused on improving the well-being of bees at a global level with over 1700 members.


Our second guest speaker will be Dr. Brock Harpur.  Dr. Harpur is an assistant professor at Purdue University’s Department of Entomology.  Brock Harpur was a National Science and Engineering Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Donnelley Centre, University of Toronto.  He completed his PhD on population genomics of honeybees with Amro Zayed (York University).

Brock has been awarded the prestigious Julie Payette Research Scholarship from the National Science and Engineering Research Council, an Ontario Graduate Scholarship, the Entomological Society of Canada’s President’s Prize, and was an Elia Research Scholar during his time at York University.

Guest Speakers

Another Plenary Speaker will be Joan Gunter.  Joan is the President of the American Beekeeping Federation. She is the co-owner of Gunter Honey Farm and has been a beekeeper for over 30 years.Along with her husband, Dwight, own Gunter Honey Inc., Gunter Honey Farm and .  They run hives in North Dakota, Texas, and Mississippi.
