30th Annual Field Day

Saturday, June 1, 2024
Sponsored by Queen Right Colonies &
Lorain County Beekeepers Association

For 30 years QRC and LCBA have partnered to bring the best
of the best to Ohio, and this year is no different. Kicking off
Field Day will be keynote speaker Randy Oliver of Golden
West Queens. Randy will be speaking on his mite-tolerant
queen project. The icing on the cake will be guest speaker,
Ray Olivarez from Olivarez Honey Bees speaking on
commercial beekeeping. Having these two very sought after
and informative speakers at the same event is an opportunity
you will not want to miss.
And new this year is Peer Beekeeping Lessons: three breakout
sessions; point-on, no-nonsense, 15-minute classes with your
peers. These three lessons will cover queen introduction, hive
evaluation, and queen evaluation in one hour’s time. Each
lessons will repeat three times in one hour, every 15 minutes.
Also included in the Lessons, Chris Merkel, a long-time
member of Tri-County Beekeepers Association will be
instructing a live demo on swarm prevention and control.
We expect to have a large crowd, so come early. If you don’t
feel like packing, lunch will be available at a minimum
cost. Farm tours Alpaca shearing, petting zoo – lots to see
and do. Free event, so bring the whole family!
