This a public survey looking for input from veterinarians but also animal caretakers, animal industry stakeholders/businesses/farms/ academics i.e. Beekeepers. They consider bees to be animals included under consideration of this committee. I would hope folks recognize that having bees added to this animal survey puts them in the room with cattle, chickens, hogs, etc.
Issues I would hope beekeepers could raise would be: Tropilaelaps awareness and mitigation plan, availability and regulation of drugs and pesticides used on honey bees, Varroa mites, appropriate hive loss support maybe more Varroa and less CCD, facilitating cooperation between state apiarist and veterinarians, honey adulteration, etc.

The Panel welcomes input from a variety of stakeholder perspectives: other U.S./State/Local government agencies, animal food and drug industries, public health organizations, non-governmental groups, as well as the end users of FDA’s regulated products (farmers, ranchers, pet owners, zoos, and veterinarians). Input provided by November 15, 2024, will be considered as part of the Panel’s deliberations. In addition, market research, roundtable discussions, and individual interviews will be deployed.
